Overview

The neighborhood was considered the center of the ancient Islamic Imamate and the decision-making area. Therefore, the neighborhood was surrounded by a wall about two kilometers long, containing four gates. The wall contained within it 300 houses built by Omanis and 17 towers. As for the four gates, they are called “Sabahat.” Previously, every “Sabah” closed and opened at certain times, and a guard was employed inside it due to the sensitivity of the old neighborhood and its political position, and the guard had a residence for himself and his family.
